Illinois Casting Call Seeks Overweight Light-Colored Dog

At first, I thought this was certainly an April Fool’s joke.

A casting call posted on April 1 was looking for a “small to medium, slightly overweight, light-colored dog.”

That post alone made me raise an eyebrow, but it seems like it’s legit.

$300 Dog Casting Gig in Des Plaines for Film Project

A casting call shared on the Four Star Casting Facebook page is willing to pay $300 for an eight-hour shoot in Des Plaines for what is being called “Schiller Park” (whether that’s the actual name, project name, or just filming location is still a tad unclear).

Unusual Scene Requires Dog on 30-Foot Leash in Cemetery

Either way, it gets weirder as the dog, potentially yours, is walked on a 30-foot leash while an actor slowly drives through a cemetery. That essentially means you need to be pretty comfortable letting your dog hang out in a rather unusual setup.

What You Need to Submit for the Casting Call

If you’re still interested, you should submit pics, along with vaccination records and proof that your dog can follow basic commands. The casting call also mentions that someone else may need to handle the dog during filming.

Since it’s the internet, people had some laughs with the post saying, “I’m a method actor, can’t do this,” but another said, “With the right makeup, I can play the dog, I look like him, and CGI can scale me down.”
