Weird Speed Limit Sign Grabs Drivers’ Attention

More places need to do stuff like this because there’s a certain kind of fog, or autopilot, that happens to the brain when you drive the same route over and over and over. You tend to miss some of the finer details, like the speed limit.

That’s why the folks at this place decided to put up this speed limit sign.

They say they have “haulers, contractors, and residents moving through our site every day. With so much activity, staying alert is key to keeping everyone safe.”

Why a Decimal Point Might Actually Work

Seeing a speed limit sign with a decimal point is eye-catching for sure, and it’s the type of thing that, when you see it, makes you much more cognizant of your speed limit.

Unsurprisingly, people had questions and opinions about the new sign, like one person who said it worked last weekend when they were there and got a good chuckle out of seeing the sign.

Others said that it looked like 173 mph, which honestly, I am unsure how someone would think that, but to each their own, I guess.

Could Rockford Try Something Like This?

Either way, I think Rockford should try something like this. The city has installed calming lanes and other tactics to keep drivers safer and more aware. Why not add a decimal point to a speed limit sign to see if drivers catch it?

Is this a genius move, or are people just going to stare, smile, and blow past it anyway?
