Illinois Gas Tax Increase Bill Is Moving Forward

This may be the bill passing we look back on as the moment when the real mass exodus of Illinois began.

Many believe this bill to increase the gas tax in Illinois is what will cause thousands more to leave the state.

If passed, the bill would increase the tax 25 cents. It's currently at 19 cents, so the per gallon tax would rise to 44 cents.

This bill also proposes a $50 increase in vehicle registration fees.
