Remember This Illinois Town Chosen by Netflix for it’s Holiday Display?
Nothing brings the joy of the holiday season like your family in the cruiser, after the sun goes down, checking out beautiful light displays.
Netflix, the streaming app, just selected six cities around the country to spread big time holiday cheer with their light displays. One of those cities is a small Illinois town of just over 6,000, that sits on the banks of the Mississippi River.
Alton, Illinois was one of six American towns who's downtown holiday light displays will be growing this year, thanks to a big donation from Netflix.
“This will bring Christmas spirit to Alton after a very difficult year with the COVID-19 Pandemic."
"I could not be happier for Alton. It will have a deep impact to have a little bit of Christmas joy for not only Alton but the entire region. It will allow us to escape the terrible year and it will be a break for the region to see something this wonderful thanks to Netflix,” Mayor Walker said.
The other places chosen by Netflix are Augusta, Georgia. Vallejo, California, Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Natchez, Mississippi, and Norman, Oklahoma.
I'd be willing to bet many of the displays will include lights of different colors and signs promoting Netflix Christmas movies and shows.
