Illinois Woman Finally Claims $552M Mega Millions Jackpot

Last week, someone in Illinois bought a Mega Millions ticket online and matched all six numbers.  That person has finally claimed their money!

I've always wondered what I'd do in a situation like this.  Knowing I matched all six numbers and got the Jackpot of $552 million would make me nervous.  I'd probably go straight into hiding and wait until the very last day to come forward.

The Illinois woman, whose name has not been revealed, said she's in shock and disbelief after receiving an email from the Illinois Lottery saying she won off a ticket bought online.

“I was scrolling through my emails when I saw one from the Illinois Lottery saying to check my numbers because I won a prize,” the woman said. “In the past, I’ve won $2 here or $5 there, so I assumed it would be similar.” [wgem]

Funny enough, she was in such disbelief that she closed the app and reopened it to make sure it wasn't a glitch.  I would, too!

The winner wanted to remain anonymous, so the check says "MEGA Millionaire" and the Illinois Lottery Des Plaines Prize Center supervisor held the mega check instead.

“I’ve always dreamed of retiring early and enjoying life with my family. I think it’s safe to say my dream just came true,” the woman said. [wgem]

This Jackpot win goes down in history as the 9th LARGEST Mega Millions Jackpot prize in the game's history and LARGEST jackpot won through the iLottery.

I guess it's safe to say I'll be playing more on the app now that I know people actually win online.  Plus, I can do it from the comfort of my own home and don't have to waste gas stopping at the gas station!
