A story of a vengeful ex from a few years ago has started to get some traction on social media and news groups across the internet.

The story, according to a 2013 article in the Chicago Tribune, says Jennifer Fitzgerald was hit up with an astronomical bill from the city of Chicago after a $600 junker her ex-boyfriend was driving racked up thousands of dollars in parking tickets.

You heard that right. The ex-boyfriend, Brandon Preveau owned a 1999 Chevy Monte Carlo that was in Fitzgerald's name. When the car died in 2009 at O'Hare, he decided to leave it there.

That's where the sad, dead Monte Carlo stayed until 2012. When finally after raking up 678 parking tickets totaling over $100,000.

Fitzgerald started to receive notices about parking tickets but couldn't afford to pay them due to the fact that she was unemployed at the time.

According to DNA Info, the city of Chicago was not budging on the insane amount of money that Fitzgerald owed in fines.

The city and Fitzgerald settled on the fines cutting them in half at just around $5,000. The agreement was a $1,600 down payment from Preveau and a $78 monthly payment for three years from Fitzgerald.

If my calculations are correct, Fitzgerald will pay off the parking ticket fines in August of this year.

That's a long time and a lot of money wasted because an ex-boyfriend couldn't register a car correctly.
