Missouri & Illinois Search for Divorce More than Any Other States
When it comes to states that have residents who search for details on what it would take to get a divorce, very few states rival Missouri and Illinois who are nearly at the top of the list.
I saw this curious internet factoid from a Georgia media outlet called Valdosta Today. It's based on research from the law firm Schmidt & Clark about which states have the largest amount of the population who are researching divorce. Based on the data they found, the old country song by Tammy Wynette "D-I-V-O-R-C-E" should be considered as at least secondary state songs for both Missouri and Illinois.
As a region, no part of America rivals Missouri and Illinois as both are in the top 10 for internet searches about divorce. Illinois is #9 while Missouri is #10. It's almost like they're a bickering couple next to each other in this list.
What is the real rate of divorce in Missouri and Illinois?
It's one thing to research divorce. It's quite another to actually go through with it. Statistica shows that the real divorce rate in Illinois is 1.3 for every 1,000 inhabitants. In Missouri, it's 2.9 for every 1,000 which means that Missouri really should be at or near the top of the list for states that break up relationships.
But, there's another song that comes to mind and it's "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" by Neal Sedaka.
