The theft of thousands of dollars stolen from an Illinois gas station was an inside job.

Suspicion Over Not Receiving Payment For Gift Card Purchases

According to patch.com,

There was some suspicious activity going on at the BP Minit Mart in Manhattan, Illinois. The "red flags" started coming out after the gas station along with the gift card company found some problems in their financial records. There were many gift cards purchased without any record of being paid for. It added up to $117,000. A further investigation was then started.

Investigation Of Surveillance Footage

The owner of the convenience store immediately started viewing old security videos. They discovered footage of three female employees who were activating gift cards but never purchasing or receiving payment for them. Then, the employees would take the cards home with them. The evidence was brought to the local police. After their investigation, the suspects were arrested.

The Suspects Were Fired And Arrested

Of course, when the owner witnessed the surveillance footage, the employees were fired right away. Then, two months later, a warrant was issued for all three of the suspect former employees. The suspects refused to cooperate. It's not looking good for these ladies.

According to patch.com, 

If I worked there, I would know I was under surveillance, Holford said. So I guess the bigger question we had...if you knew you were being videotaped, why would you try to commit such a crime? But we didn't get the opportunity to get those answers.
