I don't know about you, but I LOVE looking at photos and videos of abandoned buildings, especially when they are in Illinois. Why? Because they look like eerie time capsules and illicit so many questions about the weird stuff that was left behind.

I like to imagine what the final days of these old buildings were like, and why they were left so abruptly.

Did something tragic happen there?

Were people forced to leave before they could take any of the stuff inside?

Why has it been left abandoned for so long?

These are just a few of the questions I ask myself when looking at photos of abandoned places, and when I saw this post from Decayingmidwest on Facebook, my mind really went into overdrive.

What questions come to your mind when you look through these photos taken by Decayingmidwest?

DecayingMidwest claims these photos were taken in an old chop shop, and infers that most of the vehicles went missing illegally, but after reading through the comments, I'm not so sure that's the case.

Some people say this building was NOT a chop shop, but rather a former demolition derby garage or a cab garage, but one person said this...

this was a storage facility for a derby family outta Freeport. There is literally a derby car in one of the pictures. All these cabs were bought and stored here before being wrecked in a derby.

Other commenters said the vehicles featured in the photos are long gone, but we may never really know the truth because of the one important rule all abandoned places groups have in common; NEVER post exact locations.
