The Allegations: Unintended Siri Recordings
Apple denies wrongdoing, even though there are claims that the voice assistant sometimes records without users saying "Hey Siri." That's tough and a total invasion of privacy. Apple goes on to say Siri was built with privacy protections, and data was never sold or used for marketing profiles.

Who Qualifies for a Piece of the $95 Million?
Regardless, payments started going out last week to folks who filed a claim. This was for anyone who owned an Apple device between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024, and experienced unintended Siri snooping.

Payment Limits and Device Coverage
Essentially, any Apple device was covered, including Apple TV, Apple Watch, Macs, HomePods, iPads, and, of course, iPhones. The lawsuit allowed up to five devices, with payouts limited to $20 per device, depending on the total number of claims.
Missed the Deadline? What You Need to Know
I know this might be the first time you're hearing of the Apple settlement, and if you're thinking, "I had one of those Apple devices between the above dates," sorry, you're out of luck. Claims are closed, but if you filed, you should receive more payments soon.
