Last Minute Summer Fun

In my house, the month of August comes with its own mixed bag of emotions.

It's when summer boredom kicks into high gear for my kids because they are sick of the heat, sick of spending the whole day swimming, and they've already played every game they can think of with their neighborhood friends.

My kids may be over summer by the time mid-August rolls around, but that doesn't mean they are ready to go back to school yet, so we have the "summer sads" too.

Back In School Celebration at Lockwood Park

Mark your calendars now for Saturday, August 23 for a special back-to-school celebration at Lockwood Park in Rockford.

The "Back In School: Fun Fair on the Farm" event will include the classic animal fun families love at Lockwood Park, but will also feature free and paid activities including:

  • Relay races
  • Story time with animals
  • Fun fair games
  • A scavenger hunt
  • Wagon rides
  • Face painting
  • Food trucks and more
