Illinois Jail Gets a Major TV Spotlight in New Season of “JAIL”

If you live in Illinois, are a sucker for true crime shows, police documentaries, or reality TV that gives you a peek into places most of us will hopefully never have to visit, you now have a local reason to watch the television series "JAIL".

What Is "JAIL" About?

I'm a sucker for any true crime-related show, movie, book, etc., but I have never heard of the show "JAIL" until today.

I've spent more hours than I could possibly count staying up late and watching the TV show COPS, and "JAIL" is another series from the same producers. COPS highlights the shenanigans law enforcement officers deal with DURING an arrest., but JAIL features what happens AFTER an arrest.

Basically, JAIL lets viewers see what happens behind the doors of a jail without having to actually end up behind those doors yourself, one Illinois jail will be featured in four new episodes this season.

McHenry County Jail to Be Featured on JAIL

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office recently announced that the McHenry County Jail will be featured in Season 7 of JAIL.

In the statement, Sheriff Robb Tadelman said:

This was an opportunity to give viewers a look inside the jail and at the work our corrections staff does every day. I’m proud of the professionalism and dedication they bring to a job that most people never see.

Honestly, that is probably one of the more interesting parts of a show like JAIL.

Most of us don't realize what corrections officers deal with on a daily basis, and shows like this offer a glimpse into why their jobs can be so demanding.

When Can You Watch "JAIL" Season 7?

Season 7 of "JAIL" begins streaming October 1 on Roku, Prime Video, VIZIO and Sony PlayStation.

Filming has already taken place at the McHenry County Jail, and the segments will be featured in four episodes this season.

So, if you are like me and have a questionable amount of interest in true crime, police shows and anything involving a jail, you may want to add this one to your October watch list.

And now I have another excuse to tell my family, "No, I'm not watching another crime show. This one is LOCAL."
