Why You’re Seeing More Cops on Rockford Roads This Month
Have you been noticing a lot more cops on the road in Rockford, Illinois recently? There's a good reason why, and you better start watching your speedometer.
Rockford's Biggest Driving Problems
Anytime you ask someone "what's the worst thing about driving in Rockford?" I guarantee you'll hear one, or all, of these answers:
- Potholes
- Too many roundabouts
- Road construction
- Distracter drivers
- Speeding
Yes, all four of those things are problems while driving in Rockford, but at the end of the day, drivers have control of changing of only two of those things: speeding and distracted driving.
Rockford Police Are Cracking Down on Speeders
I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I don't have a lead foot sometimes when I'm driving and running late for work, but I'll be setting my alarm a few minutes early going forward. Here's why:
According to WIFR:
The Rockford Police Department will join more than 200 local law enforcement agencies statewide as part of an initiative to reduce speeding.
Increased patrol efforts will be seen locally and statewide between July 8-31, especially on roads where speed-related crashes happen.
Rockford Police officers will not only be on the hunt for speeders, but for other traffic violations too, so you better be prepared, because you will get a ticket.
Some of the other traffic violations Rockford Police will be looking for include:
- Distracted driving
- Driver's license and registration
- Proof of auto insurance
- Operating headlights, taillights, and brake lights
- Current license plate stickers
Before you hop behind the wheel today, please make sure you have all your ducks in a row, because getting a ticket sucks.
