Woman Killed After Being Hit By a Car On State and Perryville is Identified

The Winnebago County Coroner has revealed the name of a woman who was struck and killed last night in Rockford.

According to the press release, 47-year-old Tyra Traylor was struck by a vehicle at E. State Street and Perryville Road around 8:18 pm. The driver of the vehicle that hit Traylor immediately stopped and called 911.

"Mrs. Traylor was assessed by medical personnel and she was determined to be beyond resuscitation," according to the press release. She was pronounced dead by the Coroner at 10:04 pm.

A tragic night at one of the busiest intersections in Rockford where a pedestrian was reportedly struck and killed on Tuesday evening (4/30).

Rockford Police Have Busy Road Closed During Fatal Crash Investigation

According to a post on their X account, the Rockford Police Department is on the scene investigating the death of a female pedestrian who was reportedly struck by a vehicle at the E. State and Perryville intersection on Tuesday.

Until further notice, eastbound lanes of E. State Street at Perryville will be closed "while they investigate."
