I was only 7 years old when my dad took me to see the first Star Wars movie. My mom and sister stayed home. The Force Awakens director wants that to change.

Although his name is now synonymous with jaw-dropping action set pieces and lens flares, J.J. Abrams first made it big on the small screen with the teen drama "Felicity." Ever since then, strong female characters have been sort of a calling card for Abrams, says Huffington Post.  J.J. told ABC's Good Morning America:

"'Star Wars' was always a boys' thing and a movie that dads could take their sons to, and though that's still very much the case, I was really hoping this could be a movie that mothers could take their daughters to, as well,"

I'll be honest, I didn't really like the 3 newest 'Star Wars' movies and I think much of it was because I wasn't a young boy anymore. Now at 47 with a 10-year-old daughter, J.J.'s request will be easy accept. Since buying an expensive sports car isn't my 'mid-life crisis' desire, feeling like a young boy again IS, so off the see Star Wars: The Force Awakens we ALL go.
