Is a Literary Road Trip Out of State Worth the Drive From Rockford?
You can go to the public library to get books any time, but what about when you are a fan of an author, and you just want to add it to your bookshelf? You go to a bookstore. There are big chain bookstores, but they often lack the charm of independent bookstores.

So USA Today and its 10 Best poll asked which independent bookstores in America are best, and after the dust settled, one of the finest is in Wisconsin.
Called Leopold’s, it sounds like a destination for readers, eaters, and drinkers, because this place has a little bit of everything, “where guests can browse for a new read while enjoying coffee, wine, or craft cocktails. The carefully curated shelves are uniquely organized by country of origin, allowing readers to explore fiction, history, travel, and cookbooks from a particular place all in one section. Regular events, from live jazz to bookstore happy hours, add to the lively literary atmosphere.”
