While most of us were busy spending time with loved ones; eating turkey, loading up on stuffing and watching football on Thanksgiving day, there were hundreds of men and women who spent time away from their families to serve and protect our community. Just because it's a holiday doesn't mean that fires, accidents and other disturbances don't happen.

Last Thursday, volunteer firefighter Matthew Hehn, went above and beyond the call of duty when responding to a routine medical call and what he did for this family is something they will never forget. The chief of the North Park Fire Department was so touched, as was this family, that he shared the experience on their Facebook page.

What a beautiful story; I'm so happy the chief decided to share this. There needs to be more people like Mr. Hehn and his girlfriend in the world.
