Looks Like a Huge Mural Is Getting Installed on Madison Street in Rockford
Rockford already has plenty of cool-looking murals. Guess we just add this one to the pile of awesome stuff.
It's not like it wouldn't stand out on its own though.
THE NEW MURAL ISN'T QUITE READY YET
While it's only 25-30% done, I can tell you it's going to be an eye-catcher. Just like the one on East State Street across from Taco Betty's.
Every time I drive past that mural, I catch a glimpse.
Yesterday, I thought it was odd there was so much commotion happening on Madison Street.
PAINT PARTY ON MADISON STREET
There weren't people spilling onto the road but there was enough to notice there was something going on.
I kind of forgot about it until this morning as I'm cruising down Madison Street headed north I see to my right, near Mike's Automotive, there's some brand new art.
I whipped around and took a few pics. I can't wait until it's finished.
I can't tell you a whole lot about who's doing it or what the theme of the unfinished art project is quite yet but from what's been done so far, I have a feeling it's going to be excellent.
SO WHO'S BEHIND THE NEW MURAL ON MADISON?
Here's something else, in the mural it looks like the person is holding a book. In the lot where the mural is being painted, a Rockford Public Library van.
I'm not Sherlock Holmes, but I think it might be, and don't quote me on this, a mural being done by someone either connected or commissioned by the Rockford Public Library.
I guess we shall see. After all, I drive down Madison Street every day so I'm sure I'll actually really see.
UPDATE:
It was the Rockford Public Library after all. According to a press release:
Internationally-recognized illustrator and muralist, Eddaviel will work with Rockford youth in creating a public mural on the South wall of 765 North Madison Street in the theme of our summer reading program - Reading Colors Your World.
If your kids are interested in helping Eddaviel paint the mural, the Rockford Public Library is allowing kids register for the chance.
