The app that allowed subscribers to buy movie tickets at a big discount was shut down this weekend.

MoviePass said Saturday (9/14) that the app was being shut down, and as for the app's future, owners stated they were "unable to predict if or when" it would return.

As a subscriber to MoviePass, you paid $10 a month to buy up to 3 movie tickets a month. That's a terrific deal for subscribers. Not sure how MoviePass thought they could sustain themselves when they were, in turn, paying the movie theaters full price for the tickets. Full price in many cities is $15 or more.

According to wgntv.com, you won't need to contact MoviePass to get your 'appropriate' refund for what you've already paid for, they' ll send it to you. I don't know if I'd trust that. If you haven't made your monthly subscription payment, you won't be charged during the apps down time.
