An Illinois Lottery Player Just Became $3.4 Million Richer

A purchase of one Fast Play lottery ticket made someone a millionaire in Illinois.

On Thursday, someone purchased an Ultimate Diamond Jackpot lottery ticket at Komal Wine and Liquor, near O'Hare International Airport, without even knowing they'd be an overnight millionaire.

The owner of the convenience store, Ashish Patel, shared that a winner hasn't come forward yet, but they'll know pretty soon who it is because they know every customer who walks through their door.

"I’m sure the winner will come into the store to share the news with us – and we can’t wait! We are so excited for them.” [Ashish Patel]

If you were to win $3M simply by playing the lottery, what's the first thing you'd buy to celebrate?  Most people would go into hiding, find a financial advisor, pay off all their debt, or plan their first luxury vacation.

Personally, I'd make sure all my rent is paid for an entire year, my immediate family is set up for a comfortable life, and then I'd put enough in savings to keep myself financially secure when I'm finally ready to retire.  I think I'd keep my job for a while because it'd be boring to "retire" at my age (I'm 27!).
