One of the best parts about moving to Rockford is experiencing a lot of things and places for the very first time like bars, restaurants, coffee and my favorite thing- food.

A couple of weeks ago, I experienced cheddar fries from Beef-A-Roo for the first time; this week, for my friend Lindsay's birthday, I tried sushi at Shogun. Let me start by saying that I'm not a fan of sushi; I refuse to eat anything that comes out of the water, but I wanted to be a good sport. With a little encouragement from my friends Johnathan and some hand holding from my friend Kelly, I sucked it up and tried it.

Here's how it went. Spoiler alert: not well.

Other than the sushi, I had a great time at Shogun. The atmosphere is awesome, their meal pricing is affordable and the other food was delicious. I had the teriyaki chicken with white rice and all the fixings that came with it; including one of the best salads I've ever eaten.

What's your favorite thing to eat at Shogun?
