Melissa McCarthy Returning To Illinois Alma Mater for Honorary Degree

Emmy winner Melissa McCarthy is heading back to SIU, not to take classes, but to receive an honorary doctorate.

On May 11, one of the absolute funniest humans ever, returns to Southern Illinois University, with her Cafbondale-native husband, to receive an honorary doctorate of performing arts during SIU commencement ceremonies.

Melissa arrived ed at SIU from her home in Plainfield, Illinois, in 1988. At that time, she was set on pursuing a degree in fashion design and merchandising, according to thesouthrern.com.

According to SIU's commencement schedule, Melissa McCarthy will receive her honorary doctor of performing arts degree at the 5:30 p.m. commencement celebration. It sure would be great if she grabbed that mic for a moment, while on that stage.
