A Minnesota man spent six months growing a pumpkin to more than half-a-ton then used it to squash a minivan for a good cause.

According to WCCO-CBS Minnesota, the giant pumpkin was raised 80-feet into the air and dropped on a minivan below. Charlie Bernstrom wanted to raise dough for the Kittson County Literacy Council in Lancaster, which is about 6 hours northwest of Minneapolis, so he charged everyone $1 for a chance to pull the cord that dropped the pumpkin. The honor went to 2-year-old Emmett Peterson.

After raising $360 for free books and literacy resources to children in the area, Bernstorm decided he would pull the stunt again next year with an even bigger pumpkin.
