My 2013 Guilty Pleasure: General Hospital.

I started watching it every once in a while a little over a year ago when my mom was recovering from wrist surgery. I figured spending just one hour a day accompanying her to Port Charles wouldn't do any harm. Boy was I wrong.

After the baby switching and water poisoning of late 2012, I was accidentally hooked.

Maybe you're looking for a daily escape from the real world, or want to bond with YOUR mom over who used to be married... who just came back from the dead... or which actress had her cheeks done ...

Whatever the reason, let me quickly recap 2013 -- the soap's 50th Anniversary --  for you before we re-join the doctors of GH for 2014.

• AJ returned from the "dead," reinvented pickled Lila, drank all of the vodka on the planet and might have killed Connie/Kate.
• Robin did not die, but she did interrupt Patrick & Sabrina's wedding. Sidenote: Emma Drake is still the cutest child on TV.
• The new Lulu is finally settling in, after being Walt Disney-style frozen for a while, regaining her memory and giving up Connie (the baby) to Spinelli.
• Maxie gave birth to her and Spinelli's baby, even though she was pretending it was Lulu's & Dante's, and even though Spinelli is with Ellie. Maxie's pregnant in real life, and everyone in her love triangle is off the show for the next few months...AND the Britch, had a baby, Ben, who is 100% a stolen embryo from the Falconeri's.
• The Nurse's Ball returned along with Richard Simmons and Lucy Coe.
• The Jerome family is back and Julian is Sam Morgan's biological father.
• There was some Luke & Laura-ing, and I have to say it was a little boring.
• Finally, Sonny is in jail, taking the blame for Morgan, who got married to Kiki, aka Star Manning and now is dating Kiki's mom Ava Jerome... while Kiki is living with Morgan's brother, Michael....who no longer has red hair.
