The last Wahlburgers in Illinois has suddenly closed.

Now it looks like I'll never get my hands on a Wahlburger burger. It's funny because when they opened nearly six years ago, I thought I needed to get out there. It seemed like it was expanding, and I figured it would eventually get out here in Rockford, so I just waited.

Now there isn't a Wahlburgers in sight, as the last one in Illinois is shuttered.

The owners say the restaurant is closed because the lease ended, but add they are not leaving the area for good.

A new location is in the works for Wahlburgers, but where, though, is anyone's guess. It would be great to see a Wahlburgers make its way to Rockford. Do you think people in our city would support a restaurant like Wahlburgers?
