My One Direction Concert Story Doesn’t Have a Happy Ending [PHOTOS]

Thank you One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer for showing my nine-year old a production on the grandest scale. What an amazing night... except for one thing.

As the father of a 1D fan, show night is probably met with a bit of anxiety. You ask yourself questions like: Will the screaming be too loud? Will I be the only dad there? Will I go broke buying tour merchandise?  I can answer those like this... YES! No, but I was the only one dancing with all the little girls around him. And NO, you'll go broke buying beer at Soldier Field.

The Soldier Field stage was one of the most enormous concert stages I've ever seen. I love big productions but this was going to be insane. And the level of anticipation grew with every video clip featuring 1D or 5SOS that was played on the 4 jumbo-tron size video screens. 5 Seconds of summer played for an hour and being a drummer, I was glad to see that the drummer seemed to get the most attention. Then came the hour and a half wait for One Direction that included two chicken strip baskets, super-large fries, 3 big drinks, bathroom breaks, and the Macarena with more than 60,000 people. While the wait was excessive, watching how the music they played before 1D came on affected the crowd was entertaining. There appeared to be no age gap when this huge crowd all sang "Summer Nights" from Grease.

Thank God that it wasn't long after that 1D finally hit the stage because my daughter was running out of steam. Then with a bang, out they came, One Direction was finally on stage and playing "Midnight Memories." We danced and sang our way through an hour of 'bigger than life' performances and then as my daughter's tank ran dry, tragedy struck in front of us.

This concert was filled with special effects of every kind, moving lights, lasers, fireworks and video screens the size of a football field. Things shooting into the sky and incredible volume coming from on and off the stage. We didn't notice what was happening in front of us until security made everyone in that row move to the aisle and they pushed every chair back. They were creating room to get to a young girl (approximately 12-14 years old) who was having what appeared to be a violent seizure. She was shaking so bad that it took six paramedics to get her on a stretcher. Then as she was being rushed away, I laid eyes on her friend who was now carrying two purses and belongings and crying so hard that she could barely walk. There were several tall teenage girls standing in front of my daughter so she didn't see what was happening. I wish my wife and I hadn't because all we can think about is if she's alright, how's her girlfriend, was it a flashing light-induced seizure? We left the show after that.

No offense to the guys that entertained us but this is one hilarious video.
