New Study Says Illinois Is One Of The ‘Best States To Drive In’
Even with Chicago in the state of Illinois, the Land of Lincoln ranked near the top of the best states to drive in for 2021.
I have no idea how that even happened either. If you live in Rockford and cruise the streets trying to get to your destination, you know it can be a challenge.
Most people think Illinois drivers are bad and overly aggressive behind the wheel but according to WalletHub, we're not as bad as the rest of the country.
Their report highlighting the best and worst states to drive in for 2021 ranked Illinois quite favorably.
WalletHub used four different metrics to come up with scores:
- Cost of Ownership & Maintenance
- Traffic & Infrastructure
- Safety
- Access to Vehicles & Maintenance
Illinois scored high marks in safety and access to maintenance but ranked in the 30s for ownership and infrastructure so it's kind of a mixed bag when it comes to the overall score.
It makes sense too. Bad roads and poor infrastructure mean a larger need for repair shops. The inability to move at a high rate of speed because the roads are so crammed forcing should also lead to a higher score when it comes to safety.
Wisconsin ranked 11th overall, but along with Illinois, were behind Indiana and Iowa for best driving midwest states in the US.
Wallethub ranked Texas the best state to drive in the US. The worst? Hawaii.
