A corn maze in Northern Illinois has opened with an amazing tribute to first responders.

Every fall, the Jonamac Orchard pays tribute to someone or something with their annual corn maze and this year, they're honoring those who put their lives on the line for our communities; each and every day - local police officers and firefighters.

Kevin McArtor, the owner of the orchard, and other employees came up with the idea last winter and it seemed even more appropriate after a series of unexpected events hit Northern Illinois like the deadly tornado that ripped through Fairdale this past spring.  And while it's not mentioned in the article, the maze also reminds us of those who lost their lives in the line of duty like Lt. Joe Gliniewicz, who was gunned down while on routine patrol in Fox Lake.

Think you could find your way in and out of this maze? It's 10 acres, with three miles of pathways and 2 bridges. You get a map, right? I've never actually been in a corn maze before so a road trip to Malta might be in order. You've got plenty of time to get the family there.

The corn maze is open 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 for children and adults and free for children under 2 years old; and will remain open until November 1st.
