Mountain lion sighting in Wisconsin makes one of a kind photo.

Mountain Lion Or Cougar

Before getting started, I have a quick question. I see the terms "cougar" and "mountain lion" interchanged quite a bit. Is there a difference between them? Well, I use the great Google machine to find out.

According to nwf.com,

"The mountain lion—also known as the cougar, puma, panther, or catamount—is a large cat species native to the Americas. Mountain lions are large, tan cats."

Well, apparently they are the same thing. For this story, I will be calling the animal in question a mountain lion. Unfortunately, when it comes to a cougar, I no longer think of an animal. Immediately, the slang term comes to mind.

According to urbandictionary.com,

"An older woman who frequents clubs in order to score with a much younger man."

Out of curiosity, which states in our country do you normally find mountain lions? Is Wisconsin one of those locations?

According to cougarfund.org,

"Today viable, breeding cougar populations are found in just the sixteen states of Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico, South Dakota, North Dakota, Texas, and Florida."

As you can see, mountain lions are not typically found in Wisconsin

Rare Mountain Lion Sighting In Wisconsin

It is very rare to see mountain lions in Wisconsin but that does not make it impossible. For the last couple of years, it seems like wild animals have been doing some unusual activities specifically wandering into areas where they are not normally seen.

According to jsonline.com,

A deer hunter was taking a break after spending the day in his treestand. As he was eating dinner, he received an alert on his cellphone from his trail camera. What he hoped would be a deer ended up being a photo of a mountain lion. He was really surprised by this discovery.
