One of Illinois’ Newest Taco Trucks is Serving Up Uniquely Delicious Taco Pizza
You can find regular old 'taco pizza' at a pizza place if you're looking for ground beef on top of pizza crust, or you can try this.
I've always said Rockford is home to so many great places to grab breakfast, lunch and dinner. It amazes me just how many different restaurants we have that are locally owned, and on top of that we have dozens of great food trucks.
A large population of those food trucks serve tacos, and some of those taco trucks really go the extra mile and serve up some delicious concoctions you wouldn't even be able to dream of!
One of those trucks is 'The Taco Shop 815,' which you can find Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Forest Plaza on E. State Street.
Yes, they serve tacos but they also serve birria and all types of birria including in pizza form.
I tell you, I didn't think I was going to love this before I took a bite.
My Italian brain was like... can I enjoy pizza without sauce? With the toppings sandwiched between two crusts?
Guess what, this Italian really did enjoy the pizziabirria. Like a LOT.
The birria meat is covered in cheese and smashed between tortillas and served like a pizza with dipping sauce.
You can also find quesabirria at the truck.
Along with ramenbirria...
and some cray drinks you're not about to find anywhere else.
Lucky me, I got the chance to try all of this as we get ready to kick off our search for the Stateline's Best Food Truck on Good Day Stateline starting Monday August 22 at 5:30pm on FOX39, don't miss it!
