Get ready for big swimming fun to return to the Stateline as Sand Park Pool, Alpine Pool and Harkin's Aquatic Center all will be reopening this summer.

The biggest news here is that after more than 3 years, Sand Park Pool in Loves Park will finally be able to reopen. Between all the environmental clean up work done all around the pool area and the pandemic, it was starting to look like swimming would never return. The only thing that still remained was finding the money needed to do the necessary repairs and upgrades to the pool and facilities. Thanks to the efforts of Sen. Steve Stadelman (D-Rockford) helping secure over $200,000 through the Rebuild Illinois, the pool is now set to reopen.

Sand Park Pool in Loves Park is reopening soon

The money will be used to pay for new filters and controls for Penguin Pond, new chemical controls for the main pool, concrete repairs around the wading and main pools, new LED lighting, large umbrellas for shade and trash cans, and pool liner and slide motors for Penguin Pond. Opening day is scheduled for Saturday, June 12

Sand Park isn't the only public pool reopening this summer

Some of our regular places for fun in the heat reopening is starting to make like feel a little closer to normal again. On Saturday, June 19, Alpine Pool, at 4310 Newburg Road, and Harkins Aquatics Center, at 910 Acorn Street, will also reopen.

There will be many new safety regulations and also reduced operating hours. The Rockford Park District also announced that through their partnership with OSF St. Anthony Medical Center and the YMCA of Rock River Valley, they'll be offering swim lessons this summer.

Summer Splash! All Rockford Park District pools will be open this summer! Thank you Loves Park, Illinois, OSF...
