Why Rockford Is the Best Home Base for Big City Commuters
Rockford really is the sweet spot, no doubt. It's close enough to big cities to make a realistic commute, but far enough away to where you're not drowning in traffic.
That's why I love Rockford so much! Sure, we have some crazy drivers and don't know how to use roundabouts most of the time, but we can get across town within 15 to 20 minutes with ease. Big cities like Chicago and Milwaukee? You'll be spending your entire day in traffic.

Rockford is really a homebase for many people, like me. I work here, but on the weekends, love going out of town for concerts, festivals, and visiting friends who have moved away. I'm able to do all of these things because housing is so affordable here. Much lower than Chicago, and you actually get a decent sized space for your money.
