The game plan in this COVID-19 pandemic right now is to get everyone vaccinated as quickly as possible. Vaccine eligibility has officially opened to anyone 16 years of age or older, but getting a vaccination appointment that fits within your schedule can be a bit tricky.

I get my second dose of Moderna later this week, and finding the time to sneak it in between my unpaid job as a taxi driver for my kids and my work schedule, wasn't the easiest thing to pull off. If you fully intend to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but you haven't been able to schedule an appointment yet at a site in Winnebago County, today is your day!

The Winnebago County Health Department's COVID-19 vaccination site located at the former K-Mart location on Sandy Hollow Road in Rockford will once again be accepting walk-ins today, Tuesday, April 27,  from 12 to 4 p.m.

What Do I Need to Get Vaccinated Today?

If you suddenly have some time free this afternoon, just show up at the Community Vaccination Site located at 1321 Sandy Hollow Rd. between 12 and 4 p.m. with your sleeves rolled up and ready to get vaccinated. Teens under the age of 18 will need a guardian or parent present, but everyone else just needs to bring a photo I.D. along to get vaccinated.

Normally the vaccination process takes less than 30 minutes, but since this a walk-in opportunity, you should probably set aside at least an hour to allow for some wait time.

If you can't make it to the walk-in clinic today, my advice is to keep a close eye on  Winnebago County Health Department's Facebook for when they schedule another walk-in opportunity. You can also still register for an appointment now at wchd.org.
