Rockford Doctor On What’s Next After FDA Approves COVID-19 Vaccine
Dr. Dennis Norem made his weekly visit to the show to give us the latest on the coronavirus, COVID-19, and the vaccine rollout.
For approximately the 30th straight week, Dr. Norem wanted to initially focus on encouraging people to get the vaccine if they have not already. I fully realize that is getting to be a broken record for some people but it remains the safest way out of the pandemic according to literally every medical professional we have ever talked to on the show.
You can listen to the whole interview here.
FDA Approves The Pfizer Vaccine
It was the news that we were pretty sure was coming at any minute during the interview and that was the FDA's approval of the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. This was the reported road block for many that were vaccine hesitant. The fact that the FDA hadn't come around to approving the vaccine was the deciding factor for many that chose not to receive the vaccine.
That is over now and hopefully it's not too late.
Hospitals, especially in southern states like Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, are being overrun with COVID patients at levels we had not seen since the height of the pandemic. Right here in Illinois, we're seeing an alarming number of positive cases and hospitalizations.
Hopefully with this FDA approval, the number of unvaccinated people goes down so if and probably when they get COVID, they can stay out of the hospital.
We thank Dr. Norem for his time and hope more good news will be breaking when he joins us next week.
You can listen to Dr. Norem every Monday morning at 7:05 on 1440 WROK.
