Rockford Kids Are Getting An Awesome New Court to Shoot Hoops At

I love to make things in my spare time, but I am a far cry from being an artist. In truth, I am envious of artists who can use their hands and vision to completely move people. Art can bring people to tears, make them smile, inspire them, and sometimes it can remind people of just how awesome they can truly be.

Local Artists Are Needed to Help Create New Mural at Blackhawk Park in Rockford

Earlier this week the Rockford Park District shared a pretty amazing opportunity for local artists on Facebook;

If you know a local artist who would love an opportunity like this, please note that their creative juices need to start flowing ASAP because design ideas need to be submitted by 5 p.m. today (7/9/21).

What Exactly Is The Chicago Hoopbus?

According to hoopbus.com;

The Hoopbus is a vehicle of change. Our mission is to rebuild, empower and amplify communities through basketball.

We rebuild by renovating basketball courts with local contractors, artists and non-profits.

We empower by teaching the community to help paint the mural, hosting basketball clinics and equipment giveaways.

We amplify community stories through engaging social media and partner channels.

When Will The New Park Be Unveiled in Rockford?

Sounds like a pretty important mission, right? Anything that builds youth up is vital to our communities right now. The mural and new Getaway Park at Blackhawk Park are scheduled to be finished on July 31, 2021, when the BIG Hoopbus celebration takes place. This party will be free to attend and feature live music, food, drinks, games, contests, Chicago Blackhawks street hockey zone, and more.
