Someone in Rockford is having a very good week after winning a million dollars playing the Illinois Lottery.

And if you've ever taken your time scratching off every little box, you'll appreciate this man's strategy. He said crossword tickets are his favorite, and he likes to go slow! He enjoys revealing one word one by one. That patience definitely paid off, but not without a moment of pure shock.

"When I saw I had won, I had to do a double take," he said. "I simply couldn't believe it."
Honestly, same. Winning a couple bucks feels exciting, but winning a million? That's a whole different level!
He admitted the moment was so overwhelming that he thought he might be seeing things (as would anyone!). Instead of celebrating right away, he did what most of us would do: went straight back to the cashier to scan the ticket and make sure it was real.

He's already dreaming a little. He says he loves to drive, so a performance car might be in his future. Not a bad way to celebrate becoming a millionaire overnight!
And it wasn't just a win for him. Of course, the store that sold the ticket, Gas Depot, will receive a $10,000 bonus just for being part of the lucky moment. Between this and all the recent big wins across Illinois lately, it feels like luck is in the air! Maybe it's time I grab a ticket... or two.
