While most of the cities called "least educated" in the US are in Florida, California, and Texas, one is located in Illinois.

Unfortunately, Rockford was named as the 22nd least educated city in America according to a new study done by WalletHub.

In case you're wondering, and I know I sure was when I initially read the study, this isn't strictly about the Rockford school system.

While there may be some correlation, the point of the study is to show where people with high levels of education reside.

Using myself as an example, I was born in Chicago and moved to Rockford. My designation as having "some college experience" would move the number up or down.

More than likely, it would probably bring the number down. So you can probably blame me.

WalletHub used a few different metrics to dole out scores, such as how many adults have a high school diploma, bachelor's or graduate degree.

They also weighed the public school system is each city, along with the quality of the university and a few other benchmarks.

The real question is how to change "least educated" to "most educated."

Considering my "some college" level of experience, it's probably best to leave that to the experts.

What do you think? What can Rockford do to change the education landscape?
