We're all spending more time at home during this pandemic. Some people spend that extra time binge watching Netflix or drinking. Some spend it baking. Some people make stuff or do home improvements, and some people read. Let's focus on the readers for a second...

Rockford readers were dealt a pretty unexpected announcement by the Rockford Public Library yesterday, and many are NOT happy about it.

That announcement came just hours before the temporary closure went into effect, and many avid readers found themselves scrambling for answers...and more stuff to read. Many asked if curbside pickup would be available, and one person commented with this answer;

I raced over there and got my stuff... they said NO curbside😢

Many people were also asking questions about returning materials and avoiding overdue fines during this closure, and some answers were finally provided in a press release from the Rockford Public Library that said;

Eligible borrowed materials will be renewed according to RPL’s automatic renewal process. Patrons are encouraged to return borrowed materials to any RPL branch location through external walk-up/drive-up receptacles. The renewal of material loans can also be achieved by visiting our website: www.rockfordpubliclibrary.org , selecting “MY ACCOUNT” on the top navigation bar, and following the prompts

Many digital resources are still available from the Rockford Public Library to get you through the next few weeks. Just breathe, relax, and click here.
