Rockford Rivets Pauses Season Due to COVID-19 Exposure

We just got used to enjoying Rockford Rivets baseball in person this summer, and then the rug got pulled out from under us once again.

Honestly, the above statement was a tad dramatic. I totally support the tough decision that Rockford Rivets management had to make over the weekend, but it's still a bummer that we will have to wait a bit to enjoy a night at the ballpark...once again.

Here's the statement the Rockford Rivets made on Friday (7/31);

The reason for the game cancellations, according to WIFR, is because a Rivets staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member does not travel with the team, who was in Wisconsin this past weekend, so hopefully the exposure to the  players and coaches was minimal, and play can resume soon.

The Rockford Rivets have home games scheduled for this Tuesday and Wednesday, but as I write this, tickets are not available for purchase online.

Rivets General Manager Chad Bauer told WIFR that they will continue to confer with team and league officials to determine if, and when, it is safe to resume play.

If you hold tickets to any upcoming Rockford Rivets games, hold on to them. Cancelled game tickets can be traded in for upcoming games when (fingers crossed) the season restarts.
