While driving down Perryville Road in Rockford, a woman is eating from a bowl with a spoon.

An Apology And Promise

First of all, I would like to apologize for not having any photos or videos of this incident. Since I was driving too, I thought two wrongs do not make a right. I used my better judgment and avoided the temptation of participating in distracted driving too.

You will just have to take my word for it. I do promise you that no matter how unbelievable this story may sound, it did really happen.

Here Is The Story

Yesterday, I was out running some errands. I was at the Perryville Road and East State Street intersection. I was heading north and stopped at the light. When it turned green, the car in front of me took several seconds to start forward. The automobile also was moving like a turtle.

I was in the right lane and tried to move over to the left but there was a line of cars, so I was stuck behind this slow-moving vehicle. It needed one of those orange triangles in the back window.

If you have spent any time cruising on Perryville, you know cars treat it like a racetrack. They average at least ten mph over the speed limit. The person was going five under causing quite the backup.

By the time I got to the Crimson Ridge area, I was able to get around them. I thought for sure the driver was going to be on their phone. To my surprise, that was not the case. It was a lot worst.

The woman was holding a bowl up and eating the contents with a spoon. Now, I have eaten in that same fashion on my couch. It takes two hands, one for the bowl and one for the spoon. Plus, if you are not paying attention, you will spill all over yourself.

So here is my question, how in the heck is this person eating and driving at the same time? There is no free hand to steer. No wonder she was going so slow.

Now, do not get me wrong. I eat and drive all the time but not like that. You have to choose your travel food wisely. You must be able to eat and drive safely.

After I passed her, I was hoping she was just taking a bite and putting it down. That was not happening. I got in front of her and looked in my rearview mirror. She was going to town on her meal. There was no pausing for driving.

I decided to clear out of the way quickly. Hopefully, she got to her destination safely.

Questions

I really would like to know more about the scenario. What was she eating? Could it not wait until she was parked? Was she having a late lunch, early dinner, or was it just a snack? Is this a regular thing for her? Can you get a ticket if a police officer catches you in the act?

Kids, please do not ever try this at home.
