A water main relocation project was just announced that will create lane closures and detours on E. State between Perryville and Bell School Roads.

Here's a great big sign that the end of Winter has arrived. It's time to jump into Illinois' fifth season... ROAD CONSTRUCTION. A road-widening project from the Illinois Department of Transportation is set to begin on Monday, March 15th and last until at least the end of April. This project involves moving a water main near E. State Street and Perryville Road to E. State Street and Buckley Drive.

According to MyStateline.com, the City of Rockford says that only the southern eastbound lane on State (between Perryville and Bell School) and the eastbound turn lane leading to Perryville will be closed.

You can take a look at the enhanced photo provided by the City, to get a clearer idea of how traffic will be affected. After 2 minutes of looking at it, my head started hurting. All of the business on this stretch of E. State will remain open during the project. Some of those business were really affected during the pandemic so please try not to let this construction project deter you from seeking them out. Just be patient.
