It took a few winter days with temperatures in the upper 40s and into the 50s to get our temporarily patched potholes back and start swallowing our cars again. If you're new to Rockford, this list will prepare you for what's in store for you AND your car.
As I was headed home to begin writing this, I pulled behind two different cold patch crews trying to (re) fill potholes on Spring Creek Road and Riverside Boulevard. Things are just different here, these potholes never get repaired completely, they're just filled with some patch that doesn't last and they just continue to grow in size.
The City of Rockford has a phone number you can call to give them a heads-up about a hole that needs the patch.
One of my favorite Facebook groups to follow is, What's Happening in Rockford, IL. The subject of Rockford's enormous pothole problem was mentioned and I can't say any of these is a lie, this ALL could happen to you and your car.

This happened to me. The pothole made my hand slip from my steering wheel and hit the lever that turned on my wipers.
You can file a claim with the City of Rockford if your vehicle sustains any damage from potholes.
The last two things that could potentially happen when you hit a pothole seem almost not possible. But like I said, this is Rockford and our potholes are huge, so I can't tell you it's impossible.
