I'm a firm believer that chocolate cures everything.

Hungry? Eat some chocolate; your tummy will stop rumbling.

In a bad mood? Eat some chocolate; you'll feel happy again.

Reaching your breaking point with your spouse, co worker or children? Eat some chocolate; it will calm your nerves and remind you that heaven does exist.

Trying to get on someone's good side? Give them chocolate; for a few minutes they will forget they hate you.

My point here is this, chocolate works wonders for many aspects in life, but I didn't realize it helps with bad coughs too. Seriously.

I found an article at shape.com that says;

Professor Alyn Morice, a respected authority on all things related to coughs and respiratory medicine, wrote in the Daily Mail that chocolate can soothe coughs better than codeine syrup by forming a sticky coating that protects the nerve endings in your throat that cause you to cough.

The viscosity of the melted chocolate coating also allows cough-suppressing ingredients naturally present in cocoa to come into contact with your ravaged throat nerves and calm them down, says Professor Morice.

So, are we talking about pouring a bottle of Hershey's Chocolate Syrup down our throat here? No! The cough suppressing effects can be achieved simply by eating a chunk of chocolate. (Hooray!)  Will drinking a steaming cup of hot chocolate work too? No. (Boo!) Consuming anything where the chocolate is diluted will dilute the effects of the chocolate too.

Looks like we just scored another health benefit to eating chocolate, and I am all in. Thank you, science!
