Social Media Apps Illinoisans Are Turning To After TikTok Ban
Living in a digital world, keeping up with the most popular social media platforms is key to staying in-the-know. With all this talk about a TikTok ban on January 19th, mindlessly scrolling and bed rotting won't be the same.
TikTok gained popularity at the start of the Pandemic when the country had nothing else to do but stay home, be connected to our screens, and watch endless videos. It created an outlet for businesses to promote their products, TikTok users to go viral, and make tons of money posting pure nonsense.
Personally, I'm so sad TikTok is getting banned because my life completely changed because of this app. I went from being in debt, to going viral, and being picked up by a company who paid off all my debt. The power of TikTok!

Now that it'll be "unusable" after the ban, people are wondering which social media sites they're supposed to start using to stay connected to their favorite creators and find similar content they've always loved watching to keep them occupied while on the toilet (we all do it, have no shame!).
I think YouTube will make a huge comeback and draw the largest audience in the history of their existence. Not sure why, but I have a hunch.
Twitch, Reddit, and Instagram are definitely high on my list, but no other apps are like TikTok. It was the first to allow creators to respond to comments directly in video-form, and that was such a powerful feature to have!
