The rumors are true! Downtown Rockford is getting a Starbucks!

We've been wishing, hoping and praying for the Starbucks rumors to be true and as of today, August 30, we can say that downtown Rockford is getting its very first Starbucks!

Now I know what some of you are thinking, 'we don't need a Starbucks downtown, we have plenty of other local businesses to support!,' and you're right, there are plenty of local businesses including coffee shops to support, however, just because a Starbucks is landing on W. State and Main Streets doesn't mean anyone plans to stop supporting local.

I've been drinking coffee for most of the last decade and a few years before that and I can tell you when someone wants Starbucks, they're going to go to Starbucks.

So this is good. It's amazing to see such a giant corporation putting their faith on the West side of downtown Rockford and I am happy to order an espresso there as soon as possible.

That's the biggest bummer of this story, there's no official opening day. However, this is the first time we know that the Starbucks is definitely coming.

Rumors started in the late spring, but today, August 30, 2024, the City of Rockford Government announced on Facebook that the palm tree building will house the city's first Starbucks along with one other business on the ground floor, with loft office spaces on the second and third floors.

Urban Equity Property is behind the building, which was recently refurbished on the outside.
