This year, I went looking for some new ways to decorate our eggs for Easter. My wife and I found several and these are our favorites.

For too long, we've been dyeing our Easter eggs the same way. It's the same selection of colors, the same little metal holders to dip them in the dye... blah, blah, blah.

I didn't really know exactly what I was looking for when I went online looking for new ideas, but what I found, is going to change our whole Easter egg game at the kitchen table.

The thing I love most about any kind of life hack, is when you find one you weren't purposefully looking for. That's where we'll start.

My 5 Favorite Easter Egg Decorating (and Eating) Hacks

1. Use a whisk to dip the eggs

Push your egg right inside the middle of the whisk. It's way better than a spoon and gives you more dipping control.

2. Mix some dry rice with food coloring

Shake your eggs in the mixture for a really cool speckled effect. Take a look at this tutorial.

3. Add a small amount of baking soda to the boiling water

Adding that baking soda will make your eggs super easy to peel later when it's time to eat them.

4. Add salt to your water

The salt will give your eggs a spotted effect

5. Dye your eggs with fruits, vegetable and spices

The colors you'll create using some of these methods is just outstanding. You can use red and yellow onion skins, beets and spices like turmeric. Here's how you do it.
