Teacher of the Week: Mrs. Weerda from Ledgewood Elementary

Congratulations to our newest Teacher of the Week, Mrs. Weerda from Ledgewood Elementary!

Mrs. Weerda scored beautiful flowers from Broadway Florist and delicious cupcakes from Sugar Jones.

The winning nomination came from Jen Lemke. Jen writes:

Mrs. Weerda is simply an amazing kindergarten teacher! Even before she met her students during parent orientation SHE got teary eyed. I as a parent was thinking ok lady your ""different"" you haven't met our kids, but chuckled because I knew she had deep compassion. From the moment each child enters the class, individually they are welcomed with a genuine welcome. She takes time to show deep interest if a child is talking to her and truly listens. The praise and excitement she shows each child when they accomplish a goal is so gratifying.

Occasionally helping out in the class, parents all see how extremely patient and kind she is to every student. Words just cannot explain how amazing she is. Every single student listens to her and her teaching style helps the students want to learn more and explore. The students never want to disappoint her and all around are great kids because she has given so much respect to these little beings that they just want to be good and respect her. She treats each child as her own and definitely is able to use her ""mommy"" senses when things aren't right with a child such as not feeling well or something is wrong. I am amazed at how this wonderful lady is a mom of 3 and such a great teacher and nurturer of 25 students who all have a place in her heart. She has set the bar on great amazing teachers."
