A seven-year-old girl from Hartland, Wisconsin (about an hour and a half from Rockford) was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.

Her name is Emma Mertens and she loves dogs.

The Wisconsin Humane Society shared a picture of Emma on their Facebook page asking for other users to share pictures of their pups "to brighten her spirits during treatment."

18,000 Facebook shares and nearly 200,000 comments later the Hartford Police Department decided to pay Emma a visit. With 40 K-9 dogs. A surprise visit for little Emma.

One that didn't go unnoticed by the Facebook community.

Simply amazing! I’m not crying! You’re crying! Bless these kind officers and all of the men and women in blue with safety. Sweet Emma has touched so many.

Thank you so much to the Officers and their K9s for stopping to see Emma . Truly an amazing gift for her . Thank you for your service , be safe and stay blessed!

Emma's mother, Tammy Mertens:

She (Emma) said it was “the best day ever!”

Mertens continued:

There are no words....Pure Joy! Thank you to everyone who took the time to organize and participate in this. Emma is still all smiles! Over 35 different departments and many more K9s and officers. #kindness#TeamEmma
