It was a surprise to find that the Labrador Retriever, a breed I was sure would top the list, is not the most popular dog breed in Illinois.

Dogster just listed the ten most popular dog breeds in Illinois, and the Labrador Retriever is officially the second most popular breed in the state.

The German Shepherd is third, followed by golden retrievers, Rottweilers, Siberian huskies, Pit Bull Terriers, Goldendoodles, Cane Corsos, and Australian Shepherds, which rounded out the top 10 most popular dog breeds in Illinois.

According to Dogster, French Bulldogs, the most popular breed in Illinois, are a perfect fit for Chicago apartment dwellers. Their easygoing and adaptable temperaments make them immune to the stress of city life.

That makes sense because Chicago is one of the biggest cities in America and the largest in Illinois.
