The homeless reading mean tweets about themselves will change the way you think and feel about people who don't have a home.

Jimmy Kimmel's "Celebrity Mean Tweets" is one of my favorite bits on television, and I'm not the only one. The segment draws in millions of views from people like us who want to see celebrities react to how the public really feels about them; all for a good laugh.

But mean tweets are not always meant to be funny.  The Canadian homeless charity, Raising the Roof, used the idea to highlight the difficulties that homeless people face every day.

I wanted to share this video with you, not to bring you down, but because I was homeless for two years as a teenager. I lived out of my car from the time I was 15-17. All my belongings were packed tightly in my trunk and I slept wherever anyone would l me stay; whether it was for three days or three months. It wasn't until I ended up getting pregnant at 17, that was able to go home.

Not everyone has that option; they don't have a home to go to. I'm not asking you to do anything after watching this video, I just ask that you watch it and see how differently you feel.
